Job Details:

Haywood’s Finance Team is currently looking to recruit a Senior Accountant.  To be successful in this role, candidates must be able to demonstrate their commitment to providing exceptional customer/client service, attention to detail and a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges as they arise. Responsibilities include:


  • Prepare, analyze and reconcile monthly corporate finance accounting revenue;
  • Assist the Controller with the preparation of monthly Canadian regulatory reporting to IIROC;
  • Prepare and analyze monthly Canadian financial statements;
  • Prepare or review various reconciliations and workbooks for financial reporting or accounting purposes;
  • Reconcile weekly and monthly CRA and IRS withholding tax reports to withholding accounts, and prepare necessary remittances;
  • Review withholdings & transaction coding in Client Accounts related to tax & entitlements, and make necessary adjustments on a weekly or monthly basis;
  • Assist the Controller to prepare Canadian and US Year End tax slips and returns for Non-Plan accounts;
  • Liaise with the Entitlements team to ensure client tax processing is accurate and timely;
  • Respond to Broker questions regarding tax processing, policies and procedures;
  • Evaluate systems and processes on an ongoing basis to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Job Requirements:

  • Recently qualified CPA (or in the late stages of qualifying);
  • 4 years minimum accounting experience;
  • Knowledge of personal tax is an asset, experience in the Brokerage Industry a strong asset;
  • Must be able to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly, and work under tight deadlines;
  • Strong ability to manage scheduled tasks and ad-hoc projects effectively;
  • Must possess intermediate Excel skills (ie. Vlookups and pivot tables) and have the ability to learn new software quickly;
  • Must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
  • Dataphile or Multiview software program knowledge an asset;
  • Strong ability to operate in a fast paced, multi-tasking and multi-currency environment with accuracy;
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills;
  • Sense of humour.
